The one gripe that I have at this point is the computer's inability to put together a large enough army to seriously threaten me. Combat in this game has been described as more "chess than risk" in some reviews, and that certainly applies. I actually want to fight now, and don't just feel like loading an autosave from turn 1 the turn after he declares war. I sort of learned the army threshold at which it wouldn't identify me as a weakling and just leave me alone until I could start assembling my stacks of doom. In Civ 4 I'd always groan when the computer declared war on me while I was busy with early expansion and wonder construction. I must stress that combat is actually fun in this game. I miss all the old features and find a lot of the new ones here annoying (happiness), but the addition of city states, civilization bonuses and (most importantly) combat that is actually FUN has kept me playing it non-stop. About a month later, I'm up to 200 hours played in this game, and have grown so used to the changes that I'm not as in a big a hurry to return to Civ 4 as I originally thought I was. Hating on this new edition of the game for the absence of my Byzantine civilization (which is expected I know that they are at best an expansion pack faction), religion, corporations, city health, and various wonders I had come to know and love in over 500 hours played of Civ 4. Small tip: If the 'fog of war' just consists of grey blocks turn it up from minimum to low and that problem will be fixed :) Looooove this game.I started out like most dedicated Civ 4 fans. imo: Worth the buy, if you have the minimum requirements it runs smooth as butter on the lower settings but there will be a bit of slowdown during the final turns. It's an amazing timesink and it's my first foray into 'real' Civs as my first time was Civ Rev. But Civ is the kinda game I played windowed while listening to a podcast and browsing the web in between some turns. It's a big step forward and I know that I can always just go to Boot Camp and play the DLC there. I would love to do so but we get a version cut off from the bigger community.

I can't install mods or download the DLC. It's been running great so far but my only general problem with all these Mac ports is that they lack features.

2,4ghz, 2600HD video card but I do have 4 gigs of RAM (Original had 1GB I think). I'm playing on my mid 2007 iMac wich has the exact minimum requirements. Played an illegal Windows port for Mac to test it out and that ran smooth so I immediately bought the official Civ 5 on Steam yesterday.
